Don't Be The Hardest Worker, Be The Most Consistent

Every morning here in Brentwood we open the gym doors to not only our visitors, but also ourselves as coaches as we quietly go about our daily work. We don't shout from the rooftops about the killer workout we just did, or how we're the hardest workers in the room. There's plenty of others sending that message. Instead we choose to live the example of consistency and being mindful of the small things.
The truth is, we aren't the hardest workers in the room. Training for us is something that serves to enhance our lives, it isn't our sole reason for living and certainly isn't our identity.
It is this message we carefully try to stress to our personal training clients and in our group exercise classes, because when it comes down to it, nobody who trains here wants fitness to be the only thing they have going on in their lives.
With that said, progress is made over time by applying steady, consistent efforts which compound as your strength and ability increases. The stronger your become, the better you move, the more connection you have between your mind and muscles, the more effective each workout becomes so that you are able to achieve a lot more with a lot less. This is the ultimate goal.
The same applies to nutrition. The idea is to make small changes to what you already do so that it is something you can maintain for the long haul. Not just a quick 30 day fix which you quickly undo the moment you stop with the heavy restriction.
Here are some ways we help to promote consistency in daily life.
The Power Of Routine
At The PT Farm, routine is the cornerstone of a successful lifestyle. Establishing a structured daily routine helps in achieving our health and fitness goals while fostering mental clarity and focus. Embracing consistency allows us to make time for self-care, physical activity, and meaningful interactions with loved ones. By carefully creating a structure that fits with our family, work, and social lives, we discover how to effectively manage our time and create time blocks to be able to make fitness an essential component of our weekly schedule.
Eat Good Food
The PT Farm emphasises nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods which are vital for overall well-being and recovery. By maintaining consistency in our dietary choices, we nourish our bodies with essential nutrients while curbing impulsive and unhealthy eating habits by improving satiety through following a high protein, whole foods based nutritional protocol using the 80/20 rule to allow for the odd treat.
Holistic Fitness
Consistency is key to achieving long-term fitness goals, whether it be building strength, improving flexibility, or increasing cardiovascular endurance. Through varied workout programs that blend strength training, mobility, and conditioning drills to improve cardiovascular fitness and athletic performance, members of The PT Farm discover the joy of staying active and building lasting fitness habits which enhance the quality of their everyday lives.
Mental Resilience
Consistency in mental wellness is equally vital at The PT Farm. Engaging in meditation, breath work, mindfulness practices, and journaling cultivates mental resilience and emotional intelligence. The mental strength and composure developed through our training sessions help build robust emotional armour to withstand the pressures of daily life whilst also providing an outlet for stress and frustrations that may occur due to work or family problems. Our unique training environment in the Brentwood countryside offers an escape from the stress of daily life, with our visitors often reporting they become much more productive as a result of their regular visits.
Fostering Community
The PT Farm is not just a place; it's a vibrant community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for holistic well-being. By embracing consistency in our interactions, we build strong, supportive relationships that uplift and motivate us on our wellness journey. Together, we celebrate each other's victories and provide an environment of inclusivity and encouragement for those who often feel they don't 'fit in' at commercial gyms. Those who train with us at The Farm become part of our extended community of individuals dedicated to getting the most out of life and discovering their untapped potential.
Conclusion
Progress is about putting one foot in front of the other. It's not about driving ourselves into the ground or embarking on a diet that has no sustainability. Our goals should serve as guiding stars, not distant shores. In making this approach a lifestyle we set ourselves up to achieve results that last. Most of our members have been with us for years and have successfully made fitness a welcome part of their life, skilfully weaving it in to their work, family, and social commitments so that it fits with their overall lifestyle to enhance, not overpower.
